Novak Djokovic Wins Historic Wimbledon Final: The Importance of Mental Strength in Sports

The 2019 Wimbledon final was a historic one: Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer fought a highly dramatic battle for the title for four hours and 55 minutes.

The Serb won – after fending off two match points from his Swiss opponent in the fifth set. Four years after the legendary match, Djokovic said in an interview with the US TV broadcaster CBS: “If you look at the statistics, he (Federer; editor) was clearly the better player. In all aspects. But I won the game because I played best when it mattered most. I was mentally stronger.”
