Not in the Top Three, Deni Fails to Donate Medals for Indonesia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics : Okezone Sports

TOKYO – Male lifter from Indonesia, Deni failed to donate a medal in the event Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He who went down in the men’s 67 kg final round could only collect a total of 301 kg and this made him fail to enter the top three, meaning he finished the race without taking home any medals.

Appearing at the Tokyo International Forum, on Sunday (25/7/2021) evening WIB, Deni has shown less than optimal results since the snatch class. How not, on his first attempt to lift 135 kg, Deni immediately failed.

Fortunately in the second try Deni was able to get up and was able to complete the 135 kg challenge. For the third experiment, Deni then tested at 140 to catch weightlifters from other countries.

However, again Deni failed to execute his challenge well. As a result, Deni closed the snatch session at 135 kg.

Deni tried to fix the unsatisfactory results in the clean and jerk session. Deni also managed to lift 166 kg perfectly in his first try.

The positive result was then tried to be continued by Deni in the second experiment when he faced a weight of 171 kg. Unfortunately, 171 kg is too difficult for Deni to lift. Even in his third attempt he failed to lift 171 kg.

With the results of 301 kg consisting of 135 kg snatch and 166 kg clean and jerk, Deni then failed to penetrate the top three. He had to settle for ninth place.

Then the gold medal winner belongs to an athlete from China, Chen Lijun who successfully collected a total of 332 kg. It was a new record at the Olympics.

It was all inseparable from Chen Lijun’s success in lifting 187 kg in clean and jerk which was a record at the Olympics. Whereas in his snatch Chen Lijun could only collect 145 kg.

Then in second place was controlled by an athlete from Colombia, Mosquarea Lozano who certainly had the right to bring home silver with a total force of 331 kg. While the bronze winner belongs to the Italian athlete, Zanni Mirko.

Of course, Deni still has to be grateful for the result because he can finish everything well even though it’s not perfect. The reason is that two lifters, namely Kingue Matam Bernardin (France) and Ozbek Muhammed Furkan (Turkey) failed to finish the race until the clean and jerk session because they failed in three of their attempts.

With Deni’s result, Indonesia failed to add a medal. Indonesia has now dropped to 18th after previously being 17th.
