‘NOS way of viewing information!’ – The Daily Standard

Opinion pollster Maurice de Hond does not have a good word for a message that appeared on Teletext this afternoon, stating that schools in the Netherlands have “no problem” with ventilation. The corona researcher considers it an excellent example of the selective way in which RIVM and NOS process information.

This afternoon there was a message on Teletext about ventilation in Dutch schools. This was a concern, because inadequate or outdated ventilation can cause a single corona patient to infect dozens of people with COVID-19 in no time. However, the NOS news service reported that there was no man left: “Ventilation in schools is not a problem,” read. The only thing that had to be done is that the cabinet could remedy the shortcomings in hundreds of schools “with a few simple tricks” and also in the “short term”. With an emergency budget of € 360 million, the job will be done, the news report suggests.

Maurice de Hond, an independent corona researcher for several months, does not agree at all with the way in which this headline came about, and calls the “The RIVM and NOS way of looking at the information …”

The social geographer sums up all that is wrong about the message: “The fact that -even after 6 weeks- half of the schools did not provide information to the committee, is apparently small beer.”

“And we will also have winter,” De Hond concludes his account. This once again confirms the tone he has been using for several months: RIVM and NOS are sleepwalking into a new corona wave, and are not taking the required measures.
