Norway’s Weather Forecast: Gray Skies and Rain in the West and South, Central Norway to be the Winner

The sun is still shining in several places in the country, but now the umbrella will go out again. Central Norway will be the weather winners.

– Especially on Tuesday and Wednesday there will be precipitation in Telemark and most of Western Norway and Southern Norway, says on-duty meteorologist Terje Alsvik Walløe.

– On the coast of Southern Norway, between 60 and 80 millimeters of rain can locally fall in 48 hours, he continues.

Eastern Norway will also get gray weather and rain, but not large amounts.

The temperature at night will rise across the country, while daytime temperatures will mostly stay at the same level.

– The time of the cold nights is over, and you can safely start planting in the garden in most places, says Walløe.

– But there is no heat wave on its way to Norway, in any way.

WAITING FOR THE WARM: Meteorologist Terje Alsvik Walløe.

Abnormally cold

So far, the month of May has been colder than normal. In Oslo, the temperature has been three degrees lower than normal: 6.5 degrees on daily average.

Røros has had minus 0.7 degrees on average. And in Tromsø there is still a snow depth of 66 centimetres, says Walløe.

Over the course of the week, it will be slightly warmer in several places in the country.

– Central Norway will be the weather winners. They’ve had snow, sleet and a chilly week, but in Trondheim the temperatures will be significantly higher and the weather will be mostly dry, says the meteorologist.

– What do you know about the weather on 17 May?

– It is still uncertain. I think there may be clouds in some places, and there is a certain probability of precipitation in the south and around 15 degrees max. But it is still diffuse.
