Norway will have the world’s first wireless taxi charging

Oslo will launch the world’s first project of a high-power wireless system for charging electric taxis called ElectriCity. Its creators plan to form a model of charging infrastructure, which can be used almost anywhere in the world, which will facilitate the rapid introduction of electric vehicles around the world.

The project will be attended by Jaguar Land Rover. The company will provide the operator of the Norwegian taxi network Cabonline with 25 Jaguar I-Pace crossovers.

It is assumed that in the places of embarkation and disembarkation of passengers numerous charging units will be installed. This will allow each taxi with the proper equipment to recharge the battery pending the next order.

The system does not provide for a cable and is located underground, it does not require a physical connection between the charger and the car, is activated automatically and provides power up to 50 kW for 6-8 minutes.

This project is planned to be implemented as part of plans to achieve zero emissions of the entire taxi fleet in Oslo by 2024. At the same time, Norway wants to ensure that by 2025 all new cars sold had zero emissions.

In addition to Jaguar Land Rover and Cabonline, Osum’s authorities will collaborate with the electric charging station operator Fortum Recharge and the American technology company Momentum Dynamics.

According to the Avtostat agency, Jaguar I-Pace became the leader in the Russian market of new electric vehicles in 2019 – it sold 128 copies. He took first place in the first quarter of 2020, when 18 cars were bought.

The five-seater I-Pace has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 90 kW * h, which uses 432 energy cells in its work. It provides a range of up to 470 km (WLTP cycle). Two electric motors accelerate the I-Pace to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds and deliver 400 hp. and 696 Nm of torque. Recently, prices for the Jaguar I-Pace have been reduced in Russia. Now the standard equipment S costs from 5 946 000 rubles. Average – from 6,411,000 rubles. Maximum – from 6 910 000 rubles.
