North | Transport. City bus: a trade union committee at stake this Monday?

The languages are loosened (a little) on the side of the elected representatives of the Syndicat Mixte des Transports Urbaines Thionville-Fensch. Under the mask, some are starting to get impatient. Even disillusioned. And hope to put on track, as soon as possible, a brighter future for the northern Moselle bus network, which is in the grip of chronic difficulties.

“We must put things flat, and especially to move the collective forward”, we whisper on the side of the Fensch. Obviously, we think, but there is a political and financial context that blocks. This week, the announcement of the president of the Community of municipalities of Cattenom and surroundings (CCCE) to seriously consider the acquisition of mobility competence – understand that the EPCI and its six isolated municipalities members of Smitu want their own bus network – added more tension.

In the current configuration of things, the least “complicated” will consist in putting – again – the hand in the pocket, mainly the two communities of agglomeration Val de Fensch and Portes de France. The theme will be discussed this Monday in the union committee, when it comes to addressing points 5, 6, 7 and 8: contributions from communities in 2020, additional budget 2020 and updated financing plan for the Citézen project (high-level bus on duty).

Sharp tensions

On the other hand, it will be a priori more difficult to find a political consensus. Tensions are high. Certain strategic choices are far from being unanimous. In submarine, exchanges annoy. And maybe this Monday’s meeting will highlight them.

In the register of good news, it will finally be a question of “sanctifying the school service until the end of June 2021”, so as not to once again upset the students confused by the new network set up last September and quickly abandoned.
