Two compassionate North Texas-based physicians are preparing to depart from DFW International Airport this weekend to participate in a vital international medical mission to Gaza. Dr. Hina Cheema, an esteemed Dallas-based OBGYN, shares her anticipation regarding the challenging conditions she is bound to encounter upon her return to Gaza, a relentless battleground enduring relentless fighting between Israel and Hamas since October.
Severe shortage of medical supplies and medications
Dr. Cheema heartbreakingly acknowledges the deteriorating state of medical resources in Gaza. “They don’t have the basic medications. They’ve run out. There are no medical supplies that are getting in – in the quantities that are truly required,” she reveals. Dr. Cheema, along with seven other compassionate U.S. healthcare workers, is embarking on this selfless journey to Gaza in partnership with MedGlobal, a reputable international humanitarian organization known for its unwavering commitment to providing vital physician support.

Food aid deliveries provide a glimpse of hope
As Dr. Cheema departs for Gaza, the U.S. has initiated a contribution towards alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian population. By means of C-130 cargo jets, the U.S. has begun delivering pallets of food aid into Gaza. Each shipment is expected to sustain 38,000 mealtimes for a population that faces widespread malnutrition, with children being the most vulnerable.
