North Section | Canadian 1 Maple Leafs 1 (first period)

Deprived of Brendan Gallagher and Carey Price, the Montreal Canadiens face the team of the hour in the North section on Wednesday in Toronto.

The Maple Leafs (26-10-3, 55 points) lead the North section with a 7-2-1 record in their 10 most recent games and after goaltender Jack Campbell which is on a nine-game winning streak.

Jake Allen is in net for the Canadian (17-9-9, 43 points), while Jesperi Kotkaniemi is on the wing, alongside Phillip Danault and Tomas Tatar.

54 seconds …

It’s only 54 seconds since Auston Matthews hits the target after a turnstile around Jake Allen’s net. Not the start of the match hoped for by Dominique Ducharme.

The reply was not long in coming. Less than 90 seconds later, Nick Suzuki recovers a free puck. He serves a pass to Corey Perry who bites Campbell with a feint before slipping the puck under him: 1-1.

More details to come …
