In the spring, hackers tried to obtain confidential data about aerospace and defense companies. Fraudulent letters about Covid-19 and vacancy information have been sent for this purpose, including on social networks.

In April, Kimsuky attacked the Russian state corporation Rostex, but the attack was of poor quality and did not pose a threat. Experts add that its hackers were able to prepare for more serious attacks.

A group of North Korean hackers has attacked not only Russian companies, but also companies in Ukraine, Slovakia, Turkey and South Korea.

The largest known Kimsuky attacks to date were in 2014, when hackers hacked South Korea’s nuclear operator network, stole confidential documents and posted them on Twitter.

From 2018 to 2019, hackers attacked US institutes dealing with nuclear disarmament issues and cryptocurrency companies. In the spring, Kimsuky attacked Gmail accounts of UN Security Council officials, Kommersant recalls.
