Nordnet’s fund customers traded funds for a total of NOK 2.6 billion in February, which is the highest amount ever recorded. The net purchase ended at NOK 1.2 billion.

– Despite the fact that we are at or close to record listings on several of the world’s largest stock exchanges, Nordnet’s fund customers do not have a fear of heights, says Bjørn Erik Sættem, savings economist at Nordnet in a press release.

Equity funds were bought net for NOK 902 million in February, fixed income funds for NOK 282 million and combination funds for NOK 41 million.

Sættem highlights in particular that Norwegian fund customers have really opened their eyes to high yield funds, i.e. funds that invest in bonds with high risk and high interest rates. The most purchased fund in February was Heimdal Høyrente.

– These funds now give an effective interest rate of 8 to 10 per cent. It seems to be an attractive risk-adjusted return, says Sættem.

At the sales peak we find, among other things, Holberg Kreditt. This fund was closed for new subscriptions in January after reaching NOK seven billion in assets under management. At the same time, the return has been weaker than other funds recently, says the savings economist.
