Due to the special circumstances of this year, twelve entries have been nominated for the award this time instead of the usual ten, and the winner will be announced in a special ceremony on the morning of June 16 in the program “Five Mornings”.

Due to the constraints of the pandemic, this year the award was moved from its usual time in mid-November to the beginning of summer, and from 2022, the award ceremony is scheduled to take place around 4 May. As this year all the albums created by Latvian or Latvian musicians released between October 19, 2019 and February 28, 2021 were eligible for the award, this time the circle of nominees has been expanded from the usual ten records to twelve.

As in previous years, this year the jury will select one winner from the twelve nominated albums, who will receive a cash prize of 1,000 euros from the Latvian Association of Performers and Producers (LaIPA). Also, “Austras balva” will continue close cooperation with “Latvijas Radio 5 – Pieci.lv”, on the air of which every working day from May 31 to June 15 will be dedicated to one of the prize candidates, playing music from the respective album during each airwriting personality’s work. as well as offering other surprises.
