Amstelveen – The number of Amstelveners infected with the Coronavirus has not increased today and remains at 2 for the time being. The municipality of Amstelveen confirms this after the RIVM posted an update this afternoon on the national developments regarding the virus.
After the first corona infection was found on Thursday 5 March at a resident of Amstelveen, a second infection assessment was added yesterday. According to the RIVM interactive map, no new Amstelveen patients were added today; the municipality confirms this in a response.
2 Corona infections in Aalsmeer
According to the RIVM, two new infections have been identified in the neighboring municipality of Aalsmeer, the municipality of Aalsmeer confirms that: ‘In Aalsmeer, two people from different families are infected with the corona virus (Covid-19). The two people have been together in winter at risk area. The other family members of the infected persons do not yet have any symptoms of disease. The families of the two people are in quarantine from March 8, 2020. Both persons got the first symptoms of the disease on Friday, March 6, after which they immediately reported to the GGD. They have only had limited contact outside the intervening period. In the meantime, the GGD has started an investigation into these contacts, “says Aalsmeer in a press release.

Today, 61 infections were added nationwide and the total number of infections has risen to 381. Four people have since died from the virus. Of the 381 people, 161 appear to be infected abroad. For 156 cases the source is unknown or investigation is still ongoing. Most people who have been tested positive live in the province of Noord-Brabant: 157 people. There are 55 reported cases in the province of Utrecht.
No shaking hands
The central government advises to take general hygiene measures into account: no shaking hands, regular hand washing; coughing and sneezing inside the elbow and using tissue paper. Kissing at greetings is also discouraged.
