No national obligation for face masks, but local experiments

There is therefore no national obligation to wear non-medical mouth masks, the cabinet has decided. However, the security regions are still discussing ways to take measures locally to influence people’s behavior. That is the result of consultations between Minister Van Ark for Medical Care and the Safety Council, in which the 25 safety regions are represented, at the provincial government building in Utrecht.

Local experiments

Because in some regions the number of infections increases faster than in others, for example in Rotterdam and West Brabant, there must be opportunities to act locally.

This concerns mouth masks, but also about influencing behavior in other ways, such as public campaigns and approaching specific target groups, such as young people and students or returning tourists.
