These are the Philadelphia cream cheese brand and a New York bakery, H&H Bagels who are behind this brilliant idea.

According to an article published on the website of CNN Businessthe stuffed bagel was a way to challenge a New York food tax.

This tax is added to the price of food and prepared meals. Baked goods, for example, are exempt. On the other hand, if you cut a bagel and spread it with cream cheese before selling it, it then becomes a prepared food, explains the same article. But, by selling a bagel already stuffed with cream cheese, we save ourselves this tax.

Would you like to taste it? Unfortunately, the bagel was available for a limited time, until Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Means of protest? Good marketing move? The concept was definitely a great way to put bagels and cream cheese in the spotlight!
