Deputy Chairman of the Party Advisory Board Gerindra Hashim Djojohadikusumo emphasized that there was no compulsion to vote for Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 elections. He said there was no problem if people didn’t like it and didn’t vote for Candidate Pair number 2.
“If you don’t like Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran, just choose another one, there’s no compulsion,” said Hashim when met at the Merlynn Park Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (15/11/2023).
He also made an analogy that Indonesia is not North Korea which cannot choose a leader. However, Indonesia is a democratic country where anyone has the right to make their choice without any coercion from any party.
“Indonesia is not North Korea. Indonesia is a democracy. In Indonesia there is a choice, if you don’t like Prabowo, that’s fine,” he said.
Hashim also reiterated that it was okay if he didn’t like or choose Prabowo-Gibran for some reason.
“Pak Prabowo may be too fat, Mas Gibran may be too thin. One is fat or one is fine, that’s fine. Choose a president who is not fat,” he said.
“If they don’t like it, it doesn’t have to be cool. It’s okay to choose something that isn’t cool, there’s no punishment for that,” he concluded.
