Niort Hospital Emergency Room Implements Nighttime Restriction, Patients Urged to Dial 15

This is a somewhat worrying first: the emergency rooms of the Niort hospital will no longer welcome the night freely from this Monday, July 10 and until the beginning of October. In question, here as elsewhere, the lack of doctors. Your recourse? Dial 15.

The Niort emergency door will soon remain closed at night. From July 10, between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., this hospital department will no longer accept patients spontaneously, it will be necessary to go through the Samu.

Concretely, at 3 o’clock in the morning, I am sick, I call center 15. Center 15, its job is to refer to the emergency service, if necessary, or to give advice, or to send to the other doctor.

Everything will therefore go through this platform, where three assistants and two doctors will ensure the regulation. A difficult but necessary decision according to the hospital.

If we had doctors on every street corner, we wouldn’t be there to try to regulate things more, to preserve. By the time we can have an increase in this staff, we have to find ways to make the system efficient.

While waiting for hypothetical recruitments, it will therefore be necessary to do without night reception. Not enough to reassure the Niortais met this morning, already faced with the shortage of city doctors:

It will create problems for everyone, and especially for the elderly.

It worries me, it’s true, we have nothing at all. We don’t have a doctor, we have nothing.

The emergencies of Niort, it is up to 60 consultations per night, the unions on their side fear overflows at the entrance.

What we fear is that people still come spontaneously to the emergency room. And that it causes agitation, even violence. Management was again asked to step up security.

This nocturnal filtering device, practiced in other hospitals in New Aquitaine, will theoretically end on October 2, its longer term renewal nevertheless remains possible.

The emergencies of the Inckerman clinic will remain open, but could follow the same path in the event of an influx of patients.
