Nintendo extends Joy-Con controllers warranty in Europe to two years – Gaming – News

Nintendo gives a 24-month manufacturer’s warranty on Joy-Con controllers in European countries from March. The company thereby responds to concerns from the Belgian Test Procurement about the quality of the controllers. Nintendo claims to receive few defective controllers in Belgium.

Nintendo has issued a statement to Tweakers in which it claims that customer service in Belgium will receive relatively few defective Joy-Con controllers since the introduction of the Nintendo Switch in March 2017. Nintendo also reports that the factory warranty will be extended to 24 months. The company did this in France earlier this year and from March also in Belgium and other European countries.

The warranty period applies to controllers that are part of a Nintendo Switch system or purchased separately. The 24-month period after purchase also applies to Joy-Con controllers that customers have purchased before March.

Consumers in Europe up to two years after purchase you are entitled to a legal guarantee for which the seller is responsible. In addition, in the Netherlands, a product must last as long as a consumer may expect. Factory warranty can make it easier to invoke warranty. It is a confirmation from a manufacturer that the product must in any case function properly during that period. On the basis of the legal guarantee, for example, a seller can ask from six months after purchase to prove that the defect already existed at the time of delivery.

The Belgian consumer organization Test Aankoop announced this week that Nintendo had requested publicly admit that there is a manufacturing defect at the Joy-Cons. Nintendo says that “all Joy-Con controller defects have been dealt with openly and publicly since last summer”.
