Nintendo Direct next week? The rumors are growing! • Nintendo Connect

Jeff Grubb, editor at VentureBeat, answered his GamesBeat Decide Podcast on the upcoming Nintendo Direct. He had heard a lot about it and therefore saw a high probability of a Nintendo Direct on Friday, August 28, 2020. However, Grubb could not rule out the possibility that it might be “just” a partner showcase with games from third parties the focus, or something completely different.

I’ve heard a few things and I think there’s a strong possibility that there is a Nintendo Direct next week, on Friday [the 28th]. That’s the date I’ve heard.

It’s weird that August 28 is a Friday, so I’m not confident at all that’s a general Direct. It could be any number of things. But do expect a Direct equivalent by the middle of September.

Grubb expects a presentation with in-house titles by mid-September at the latest. He thinks it’s likely since Nintendo will be on September 16, 2020 a management meeting will be held, to which investors, among others, were invited. No new information on products or services should be expected at this “Management Briefing”, which is why it seems obvious that Nintendo will present some information and games before this meeting!

If I had to bet, this thing next week is probably something else. So please tone down the expectations. And then if it is a general, we can all be pleasantly surprised. But to repeat myself for the sake of clarity: I expect a bigger event soon after.

On Twitter, Grubb added that he would find a Nintendo Direct issue on a Friday, as mentioned in the podcast, unusual. One should rather lower one’s expectations. Should it come to that, everyone could be pleasantly surprised. What do you think about this? Will we find out what’s new in the Nintendo world next Friday, or will we have to wait until mid-September?
