Two of the mobile operators, namely Telenor and A1, are not allowed to raise the prices of their tariffs at the moment.
This was stated by the Minister of Economy Cornelia Ninova, adding that Vivacom has the right to raise tariffs for its services.
Ninova recalled that the increase was stopped by an order of the Consumer Protection Commission.
Subsequently, it became clear that A1 and Telenor have tried to increase their tariffs by two years, with a retroactive date – for 2020 and 2021. However, telecoms are not entitled to this because of the contracts signed with consumers.
They can raise their prices only once a year, otherwise they engage in unfair trade practices, Ninova said.
However, Vivacom is not affected by the order of the CPC, because they will raise their tariffs only for 2021. Currently, the other two telecoms can not increase their prices by a penny, said the Minister of Economy.
Ninova notes that complaints have already been received from the two companies in question.
She reminds that they have the right to appeal in court, but before the final court decision there will certainly be no increase.
