On the fringes of a meeting of an ultra-right group in the Swedish city of Örebro, there have been serious confrontations between demonstrators and the police. At least nine members of the security forces were injured on Friday, the police said. Police vehicles also caught fire during the riots, and another car is said to have been hijacked, the newspaper reports. Aftonbladet ».
Officers were hit by stones and some had broken arms, a police spokeswoman told the newspaper. She did not provide any information about protesters who might have been injured.
Right-wing group “Stram Kurs” already violent the day before
The day before, there had been riots on the fringes of a meeting of the anti-Islamic and anti-immigrant group Stram Kurs (Strammer Course) in Linköping, Sweden. Three police officers had to be hospitalized there because of their injuries.
Stram Kurs is led by politician and lawyer Rasmus Paludan, who is currently touring and holding meetings in various Swedish cities. A Koran is to be burned at each of these gatherings. Stram Kurs repeatedly causes uproar and outrage in Scandinavia with provocative and Islamophobic actions.
