Nikola Minchev revealed why the PP insists on having a foreign minister

It is still up for debate who the new foreign minister will be. The wish of “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria” is that this should be Nikolay Denkov. I hope that this burning of passions will subside and that discussions will continue in a calmer tone. The comment was made to Nova TV by Nikola Minchev from PP-DB.

According to him, the topic should not interfere with the filling of the regulators, as well as the ongoing changes in the Judiciary Act.

“I didn’t say that we are backing down, I’m just saying that other priorities are extremely important to me,” Minchev said. He justified their desire for Nikolay Denkov to be foreign minister, saying that otherwise a large part of the country’s foreign policy would be concentrated in the hands of GERB-SDS.

“After the rotation, we want both GERB-SDS and us to have the opportunity to work in an institutional way, because this concentration of external outreach is obtained exclusively in GERB-SDS”, stated Minchev.

He noted that the declaration of joint management did not say who would get what portfolio after the rotation. Minchev expressed his expectation that the only upcoming elections will be those for the European Parliament.

“I don’t think that elections will lead to a more positive situation or a majority that will outline an easier government,” said Minchev.

According to him, whether there will be another rotation after the one in March will depend on the results of the government and the majority in the National Assembly.

Minchev also said that the signing of a coalition agreement is not the focus of work at the moment. He added that he expects minimal changes in the composition of the Council of Ministers. “I cannot say specific names until everything is agreed and formalized,” said Minchev.

He stated that he expects next week to be the first meeting of the commission to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the murder of Martin Bojanov-Notariusa. Minchev is the chairman of the newly formed commission. He commented that Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov will be invited to inform the deputies about the case. “He is a former director of GDBOP, so he can provide additional information along these lines, he will be invited, Borislav Sarafov too,” said Minchev.
