One of Swedish television’s best music programs is making a comeback.

On Saturday, the fifth season of “Thank you for the music” starts, where Niklas Strömstedt is hosted by Miss Li.

Readers and TV viewers with good memories may remember that the series has already run for four seasons, 2011-2015. Some of the guests were Eva Dahlgren, Orup, Plura Jonsson, Lena Philipsson, Björn Skifs, Peter LeMarc and Lars Winnerbäck. They talked about career, life and above all music Niklas Strömstedt. And played with him and the house band.

SVT backed down – after the interviews

Why did you guys stop doing the show??

– You can ask SVT about that. I thought it was a lot of fun to do. Then they replaced some people at SVT, I think, then the new ones wanted to do their own stuff, shake up the tables.

And why are you suddenly back?

– About six months ago they called and asked if I wanted to do it. It may have contributed that in some interviews around the release of my autobiography “About” I said that I missed doing the show. Now it was SVT in Gothenburg who called, they seem incredibly on their toes when it comes to entertainment programs.

– I had to puzzle a little in the planning, but I was very happy. Lately, it has mostly been about programs being put on hold or shut down.

Miss Li is the first guest

First out as a guest Miss Li, or Linda Karlsson as her real name is.

– I have a pretty good grasp of her. She has several different ways of expressing herself and is an incredibly good singer.

How do you prepare for the programs?

– On the one hand, there are quite a lot of songs to learn, the ones we play together with the house band. Then a few more that we play on the sofa or armchair. Other songs may appear as well. If I’ve just heard them, I’m usually able to pick up.

– Then I’m involved in writing the script. So I’ve been working pretty hard, we recorded all eight shows before Easter. It has been both unusual and refreshing.

“Did I feel like an overjoyed 14-year-old”

The programs are also hosted by people who are or have been connected to the artists.

Is there anything else special going on?

– All programs are very different. The guest sets the temperament and tone. Björn Dixgård told that Mando Diao has a box of dress-up clothes they use for inspiration when scratching or writing songs. Maybe something like that will appear… and when I in Per Gessles program had to play “Dressed for success”, I felt like an overjoyed 14-year-old.

Hope to do more programs

The last time Niklas made the programs, there were many generational peers. Now it’s more mixed.

– It’s just that Magnus Uggla left by the generation mates who were not involved. Yes, maybe a few more. Now I hope to do more programs, I have good contacts and the program has a good reputation in the industry.

The undersigned has seen the premiere program which more than lives up to the high expectations. Miss Li and Niklas, sometimes together with the husband band, play alternative versions of her songs. She interprets one of her role models and offers a new song. And a lot of scary stories.

Here are the other guests in the series, which is broadcast in two installments, this spring and later this summer:

Per Gessle (20 April), Miriam Bryant (27 April), Danny Saucedo (4 May), Björn Dixgård (12 July), Bo Sundström (19 July), Jireel (26 July), Molly Sandén (8 August).

Right now I’m watching…

– I don’t have a series right now. The Football Allsvenskan has started, so I’m watching that. And news. News morning on Saturdays, of course (the wife Jenny Stromstedt is the presenter then). But the Football Allsvenskan… not one of the world’s best leagues, but in my heart it is. I can be surprised myself that I am watching Mjällby-Halmstad.

(For those who don’t know, Niklas is otherwise a dedicated AIK supporter)
