Nike has decided to permanently end its partnership with Hockey Canada amid a sexual assault scandal. About it informs Sportsnet.

Canada will not be deprived of youth ice hockey world championships due to rape scandals

The company has been a partner of the federation since 1999. In October 2022, the cooperation was suspended. Because of the scandal, Hockey Canada then lost many sponsors, including Imperial Oil, Chevrolet Canada and Tim Hortons.

Ice Hockey Canada faced public criticism in May 2022 after settling a $3.5 million lawsuit from a girl who alleged that eight hockey players, including players from the Canadian junior team, raped her in a hotel while she was intoxicated. . The accusations were not proven in court then, and the lawsuit was withdrawn after an agreement between the parties.

It later became known that since 1989, Hockey Canada had paid $8.9 million in compensation for various claims of sexual harassment and violence. There were 21 such cases in total. At the same time, the leaders of the federation retained their posts. As a result, in October, the leadership of Hockey Canada resigned.
