Night out in Zurich ends in quarantine for three hundred people NOW

In Zurich, Switzerland, it is feared that a night out will lead to a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 infections observed. A man who visited a nightclub turned out to be infected with the corona virus afterwards. Three hundred club-goers must be quarantined preventively. Five other guests who visited the club have already tested positive for the virus after they developed complaints.

The man went to the popular Flamingo Club in the city center on June 21. This week, the Swiss government relaxed some corona measures, including capacity for nightclubs: a thousand people are now allowed to be in one location.

After the corona infection came to light, contact and source investigations could be started quickly because the club has to keep lists of guests who are present.

Including staff, nearly three hundred people are expected to stay at home for ten days as much as possible and have been urged to follow hygiene standards, according to the regional government.

In a statement, authorities ask residents to follow the basic rules as much as possible. It is pointed out, among other things, the rule that mouth masks must be worn if no distance between them can be guaranteed.

For now, the clubs in Zurich will remain open. If the authorities get another incident like this on the radar or the number of infections increases rapidly, all nightlife in the city could be closed, according to Swiss media. The country has so far 31,555 infections and 1,682 deaths.
