Nicolás Maduro did not know how to pronounce a percentage and it went viral on the internet

Nicolás Maduro went viral again on social networks after he tried, on several occasions and without success, to say a percentage related to the balance of the vaccination plan against covid-19 in the Venezuelan population.

According to Maduro, Venezuela has already vaccinated the entire population against this disease. “One year after the vaccination process, today we have reached the goal of one hundred and two points, one hundred and two percent”, he said during his television program.

But, in a new attempt to mention the figure well and look at his notes on the table, he said: “one hundred two point six, to be more exact, one hundredof vaccination in the first and second complete doses”.

According to the data provided, 100% of Venezuelans of legal age have a complete vaccination schedule (two doses) and children and adolescents between 2 and 17 years old accounted for 56% of immunization.

However, the figure of 102.6% has generated more controversy than satisfaction in social networks, since many question that this percentage does not match the population that exists in Venezuela. “He vaccinated even the dead, how did he get to that percentage?“and” managed to vaccinate more people than exist in Venezuela. A record,” read some comments on Twitter.

Another person who reacted to Nicolás Maduro’s announcement was Tamara Taraciuk, the acting director for the Americas at Human Rights Watch. “A nonsense that makes it clear that the official figures are not reliable and they contradict what the doctors say,” he said.

In social networks they have also reacted people who agree with Nicolás Maduro and they do believe in the veracity of the percentage of 102.6% of the vaccinated population, announced in recent days by a state television channel.

“One thing is to have a percentage of the population, and another is percentages of an estimated number”, “if my goal was to have 80% of the population vaccinated, I have reached 100% of my goal. The percentage indicated by the president indicates that the goal has been exceeded by 2%” and “who cares what the goal that the Government set is, that does not show anything, what is important is the percentage of the entire population that has been vaccinated”, are some of the reactions that are read on social networks.

In addition to the balance related to the vaccination plan against covid-19, the leader of the Venezuelan regime also thanked the governments that would have made this situation possible, with donations and shipments.

“Thanks to China, thanks to Russia, thanks to Cuba, the people of Venezuela have their complete vaccines and we have vaccines for all of 2022 and beyond. […] We received donation vaccines and we bought, they could not with us”, said the president.

To close, Maduro pointed out that the booster vaccines can be applied after four months of receiving the second dose.
