Hülkenberg should drive for Perez

Nico Hülkenberg is about to make a lightning comeback in Formula 1. As Hülkenberg confirmed RTL, the 32-year-old climbs the Great Britain GP in Silverstone (Sunday, from 2 p.m. live on RTL and online on TVNOW) for the Sergio Perez infected with the corona virus into the racing point cockpit – provided that it is tested negatively on Covid-19. A test has already been done. The result is still pending.

Hülkenberg could replace Perez at Racing Point for two races. Because: The Mexican will definitely miss the second Silverstone weekend from August 7th to 9th.

Hülkenberg knows the team. The 177-time GP starter drove in 2012 and again from 2014 to 2016 for Racing Point’s predecessor, Force India.

Finally the first podium?

For Hulkenberg, the lightning comeback would be a unique opportunity to hit the ground again in Formula 1. No cockpit is in sight for the German in 2021. And: Racing Point has a very strong package with its silver arrow copy, this year is going to be at the forefront.

So Hülkenberg could Home of British Motor Racing finally accomplish what he was always denied in 177 F1 races: a place on the podium. It would be a very special point of an already extraordinary season.
