The lawyer and vice-president of the NGO Foro Penal, Gonzalo Himiob, reported on the night of this Friday, July 17, that the 21st control court of Caracas issued a preventive deprivation of liberty against the political scientist Nicmer Evans, for alleged “instigation of hatred”.
“Lawyers report that the judge mentioned during the hearing that the crime is imputed by a statement to Globovisión and Maduro in tweets that suggest a” narco-dictatorship, “said journalist Johan Álvarez, according to the Punto de Corte website, directed by Evans.
Evans, who is a political scientist, a former supporter of the ranks of Chavismo and director of the Punto de Corte portal, was arrested earlier this week by officials from the Cicpc and the Dgcim, after breaking into his residence.
“I was a chavista but I never was for this. I was a chavista and I never was to attack people,” he said in a live broadcast on social networks last Tuesday, July 14, shortly before turning himself in.
He stated that he “would turn himself in to see what happens. Unfortunately, Venezuela is experiencing a dictatorship where crimes are imputed without any reason or justice.”
