The musician confirms the death in a short message to The Independent . “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that my son Jethro is dead,” writes Cave.

The family asks for peace to mourn. The cause of death is not yet known.

This is the second son Nick Cave loses in a few years. In 2015 died his son Arthur after a fall from a height in Brighton. He was then 15 years old. Nick Cave has previously talked about grief after the death in several interviews. He also released a record the following year which was unanimously hailed by critics and told of the grief in the documentary One More Time With Feeling.

Jethro Lazenby was born in Melbourne in 1991. He got, according to the music magazine NME, knowing that Nick Cave was his father only when he was eight years old. He became a model after being discovered on the street, but is also said to have tried his hand at acting and as a photographer.

Last month, Jethro Lazenby was jailed after physically assaulting his mother, Beau Lazenby, in Melbourne, according to NME and Daily Mail.

His lawyer must then have announced that Jethro Lazenby struggled severe mental problems. Lazenby was released on probation on Thursday last week with a ban on contacting his mother for the next two years, as well as an order to carry out drug treatment.

Nick Cave is a world-renowned musician and is best known as the front man in the music group Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He is also a writer and actor.
