Niantic assures that it has more than ten projects in development and joins forces with an interactive theater company

Although Niantic was already making augmented reality games before Pokémon GO, it’s clear that pocket monsters have catapulted the studio to the top. For the future, they will continue to specialize in this area with many more projects.

And is that the company has “more than ten games in development, including prototypes for augmented reality devices”, as explained in a statement. All of them will be focused on the formula that we already know: “exploration of the outside, movement and social interaction”.

I've been back in Pokémon GO two years later, and now is when it's really worth playing.

In addition to that, Niantic has announced a collaboration with Punchdrunk, the company behind the play Sleep No More. It may not sound like much to us here because it is only in New York, but it is an interactive play in which viewers can walk around the stage wearing masks and interact with the actors.

We’ve recently been wondering, “What if we could be the stars of an epic adventure movie?” Our new collaboration with Punchdrunk could be the answer.

Of course, it is a very suggestive premise to add that touch of augmented reality so characteristic of Niantic. Both companies will collaborate on various projects, although it is not known if they will be located in some part of the world as Sleep No More, or whether they will be available worldwide in the form of Niantic games.

Of all the studio’s future projects, the most notable (and practically the only tangible one for now) is Catan: World Explorers, announced last year. Upon its launch, Niantic assures that it will enter the beta phase “soon”.
