Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markström had a heavy heart after tonight’s 1-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, but on himself. In the brief post-race press conference, he did not spare other vulgar self-criticisms.

The Vezina Trophy finalist is not doing as well as expected in the season so far. He has intercepted 17 games, eight of which resulted in a win in regular playing time, and his interception success rate is less than 89%.

After the setback with Montreal, the Canadiens took the loss. The reason for his frustration was a quick goal from Juraj Slafkovský, who opened the scoring after just 13 seconds of play. The Swedish goalkeeper started from the goal area in an attempt to send the puck out of reach of Sean Monahan. However, with his slide, he unfortunately charged the stick of the Slovakian striker, who didn’t hesitate and scored into an empty net.

“I think the guys did a good job. Again, I need to catch better, I’m useless at the moment. I need to improve, we play hockey well and don’t give opponents many chances to score, but we can’t start every game with a defeat”. declared after losing against Press conference.

He didn’t want to comment much on the opening goal. ‘Everyone saw what happened. It wasn’t a good game.’ He also declined to comment on the verbal altercation with striker Josh Anderson, in which he cut off his hand with a hockey stick before the whistle. “Nothing serious, I’m not worth much right now.”

Jacob Markström succinctly offered a solution to improve its performance: “Work harder and get more records.” For the Calgary Flames it was 13th defeat of the season. The Canadian club will soon face a team with a Slovakian, Fehérváry’s Washington Capitals.
