NHL: Defeat for Raffl and the Stars, Wild win with Fleury – winter sports

Front hui, rear pfui! The Edmonton Oilers are swept off the ice in Calgary.

Despite a hat-trick by Germany’s Leon Draisaitl, the Oilmen go down 5-9 at the Flames. The 26-year-old from Cologne scored 45, 46 and 47 in his 66th game of the season – the Oilers defense around the goalies Smith (4 goals conceded in 26 shots and Koskinen 5 conceded in 12 shots) failed after grades.

Draisaitl is level with Auston Matthews in the top scorer list with 47 goals. The German is three points behind his Oilers teammate Connor McDavid (97), who has 35 goals and 62 assists after 65 appearances this season.

“No matter who you play against, you can’t win if you concede nine goals. We can say what we want. That’s just not good enough from back to front,” said the German, annoyed about the Oilers’ bankruptcy (36- 25-5).

At rival Calgary (40-17-8), like Edmonton in the Canadian province of Alberta, Johnny Gaudreau creates a career record with five assists, and Matthew Tkachuk also shines with two goals and two assists.

A bitter home defeat sets it up for Michael Raffl and his Dallas Stars (36-35-3). The team from Texas is defeated in the home game by the Vancouver Canucks (32-26-9) after a 1:0 lead (26th) with 1:4.

The Villacher Raffl plays an inconspicuous game with 15:24 minutes of ice time. The Stars slipped back out of the playoff spots with the loss as the Vegas Golden Knights (36-28-4) defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime.

The Minnesota Wild (39-20-4) – club of Vorarlberger Marco Rossi, who is used in the farm team Iowa Wild – defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets (32-29-5) 3:2 in overtime and are in the running the playoff participation further well placed.

In the wild debut of 37-year-old star goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (23 saves), Jared Spurgeon scored after 1:24 minutes of overtime to win the wild at home.
