NH Investment & Securities CEO, Young-Chae Jeong, Files Lawsuit Against Financial Authorities for Severe Disciplinary Action Regarding Optimus Fund

[비즈니스포스트] Young-Chae Jeong, CEO of NH Investment & Securities, filed an administrative lawsuit against the financial authorities to cancel the severe disciplinary action.

According to the financial investment industry on the 15th, President Chung filed a lawsuit against the Financial Services Commission to cancel the heavy disciplinary action and an application for a temporary injunction to suspend execution.

This is the second time that Park Jeong-lim, CEO of KB Securities, filed a lawsuit requesting cancellation of heavy disciplinary action.

Previously, at the end of last month, the Financial Services Commission confirmed sanctions against President Chung from the Financial Supervisory Service, which decided to issue a ‘responsibility warning’ for violating the obligation to establish internal control standards related to the sale of Optimus funds.

A warning of reprimand is classified as a severe disciplinary action as it limits reappointment and employment in the financial sector for 3 to 5 years. This is one level lower than the suspension imposed on President Park.

The industry believes that President Chung’s choice is related to the lawsuit being fought against Hana Bank and Korea Securities Depository.

When the Optimus incident occurred, NH Investment & Securities first preserved 278 billion won in principal to investors and then filed a lawsuit seeking compensation against Hana Bank and Korea Depository, which continues to this day.

President Chung appears to have judged that if he accepts the financial authorities’ disposition, he may be at a disadvantage in future lawsuits seeking compensation. Reporter Kim Tae-young
