Newspaper Headlines: Thieves Caught, Ice Cream Controversy, Miracle at the Waste Facility, and Rising Food Prices

Catching thieves: – We are not afraid to post pictures of people who break in (Parish newspaper)

Four investors are currently working to turn a disused tuberculosis sanatorium at Harastølen in Luster in Sogn into a hotel. Since the start in 2016, the four have been plagued by burglaries.

This week, one of the investors’ employees managed to photograph two people who were in the process of carrying away things they had taken from the site, writes Sogn Avis.

The picture was then posted on social media, and the thieves returned the items in exchange for the picture being deleted. Now the upcoming hotel will set up surveillance cameras.

– We are not afraid to post pictures of people breaking in to find out who it is. It was very effective this time, says one of the investors, Terje Svindland, to Sogn Avis.

It exploded when Hanne-Lene reacted to the Lierkroa ice: – This is getting a bit silly, mother (Drammens Tidende)

There was a lot of interest in several media when Hanne-Lene Dahlgren was critical of the size of the smallest soft ice cream at Lierkroa in Lier on Sunday in Drammens Tidende.

The ice was too big for her five-year-old son, so 75 percent of the ice had to be thrown away. Dahlgren is concerned with sustainability, and was critical of this.

Far from everyone agrees with Dahlgren in Drammens Tidende’s comment section. Some compare it to complaining that the food is too hot, while others think she can’t have had major challenges in life when she can complain about the size of the ice cream.

Tossed all her husband’s clothes by mistake – then the miracle happened (Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad)

A couple of weeks ago, Sarpsborg woman Ann Kristin Marthinsen went to the Gatedalen waste disposal facility to dispose of rubbish in connection with moving.

To her great dismay, she learned after the trip that she had handed in all the clothes that belonged to her husband. When she went back to the facility, she was told that they had most likely been burned up.

Then came the counter-message, from a young man who worked at the facility. The clothes might not have been taken away after all.

– He said it could be a possibility that the waste from the day before had not been taken away. He asked me in, I put on work gloves and started digging in the large pile of waste inside the area. After two hours I found one bag of clothes, and later we found the other. Then there was cheering, explains Marthinsen.

Food prices run rampant: – Looking for the cheap products now (Bergensavisen)

A new report from Sifo shows that the prices of essential goods such as food and drink have increased more than twice as much as the general price increase in the past year.

That’s what Bergensavisen writes.

Marthe Håvik Augustgulen is among the researchers behind Sifo’s reference budget.

– The monthly expenses for a family with two adults and two teenagers have increased by NOK 1,600 a month, says Austgulen.

Only daycare has become cheaper according to the Sifo researcher, who says it is all politically determined.
