News – The 2020 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup canceled

The Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, one of the best U18 men’s hockey tournaments, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given its importance, this competition is usually a milestone for recruiters before the start of the season. The eight-country tournament was slated to take place August 3-8 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.

According to Hockey Canada, ” The health and safety of players, staff, officials, supporters, families, volunteers and the general public is of paramount importance and although this decision was difficult to make, we believe it is in the ‘fundamental interest of all taking into account the current uncertainty’.
