News – New York Rangers legend dies

The 80-year-old former NY Rangers star Rod Gilbert passed away on Sunday. The Montrealer wore the colors of the Manhattan team for 18 years between 1960 and 1978 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. At the time of retiring, he was the 2nd best scorer in history, behind Gordie Howe, and had 1,021 points in 1,065 games. Gilbert’s number 7 was retired in 1979 and can be found today in the heights of Madison Square Garden.
