Route reports: Wizz Air will resume flight operations at Hamburg Airport and bring five new summer destinations with it. The airport writes: From the beginning of July, the airline will be connecting the Hanseatic city with three destinations that are completely new to the flight schedule of Hamburg Airport: From July 3, Wizzair will fly twice a week to Lviv in the Ukraine. In addition, the airline will start a new route to Chişinău in Moldova on July 16 and a new connection to the Serbian capital Belgrade from July 17. There are two flights to Chişinău and Belgrade three times a week. From July 24th Wizz Air also flies to Tirana in Albania twice a week. In addition, the airline is expanding its existing offer to Bucharest and will be adding the Romanian capital to its program four times a week from August 9th.

LOT Polish Airlines will be flying from Warsaw to Tegel, Düsseldorf and Vienna again from July 1st, 2020. Geneva, Zurich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart are to follow in mid-July.

After the corona-related break, Wizz Air is taking off again at Nuremberg Airport for destinations in Eastern Europe: The Hungarian airline regularly flies to the Romanian cities of Bucharest, Sibiu (Hermannstadt) and Cluj-Napoca, to Skopje (North Macedonia), to the Ukrainian Kyiv (Kiev) as well as to the Bulgarian Varna on Golden Sands, the airport announced.

Condor is back in business too. In a press release it says: Germany’s most popular holiday airline is starting the holiday season in Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Munich: The first holiday flights took off at the weekend to Gran Canaria, Mallorca and Sardinia. In the next few days, Condor’s first flights will start from Hanover, Stuttgart, Leipzig and Berlin-Schönefeld, from where Condor will fly to beautiful beach destinations this summer. From Frankfurt, Condor also offered a rump program in March, April, May and June, which was gradually increased.

Renovation: At the weekend, construction work on the large runway will start at Cologne / Bonn Airport. Due to the low-traffic period caused by the Corona crisis, the airport is bringing forward the work that was actually planned for the end of August. The move forward enables the airport to keep the impact on residents as low as possible. From July 4th to 10th, the piste will be temporarily closed, meanwhile the traffic will run over the cross wind runway. On the coming weekend in July (July 4th to July 5th), the asphalt surface of the large runway will be repaired. For the 36-hour construction time window from Saturday, 6 a.m. to Sunday, 6 p.m., the runway will be closed while traffic is handled via the cross-wind runway. Following the asphalt work, remaining work – for example on the lighting – will be carried out during the day from July 6th to 10th. On these days, the large runway is closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the event that the weather conditions on July 4th and 5th prevent work on the asphalt surface, the following weekends (July 11th / 12th and July 18th / 19th) are intended as a bad weather reserve. In this case, the remaining work on the working day will also be postponed to the following week. The airport announced this in a press release today.
