KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. On Saturday (6/27) evening news broke out that said that Djoko Tjandra, the fugitive of the Attorney General’s Office related to corruption cases assignment Balli Bank was caught.
The man who was known to reside and become a citizen of Papua New Guinea was informed that he would soon be flown to Indonesia for further examination.
However, the news still cannot be confirmed by the Attorney General’s Office itself. “Not yet confirmed (the truth of this information),” said Head of the Center for Information and Law (Kapuspenkum) Attorney General Hari Setiyono via short message to kontan.co.id, Saturday (6/27) night.
Hari himself could not confirm whether the news was true or hoax because he still had to check the source of the information.
Just so you know, Djoko Tjandra was once sentenced to be free in the corruption case of Bank Bali cessie. In October 2008, the South Jakarta District Court (PN South Jakarta) acquitted him of all lawsuits. However, the Attorney General’s Office did not give up and finally submitted a Review (PK) to the Supreme Court (MA).
In June 2009 the Supreme Court finally decided on this case and sentenced Djoko Tjandra to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 15 million.
In addition, the Supreme Court ordered the Rp 546 billion of proceeds from Djoko Tjandra’s crime to be collected for the state. In the end, Djoko Tjandra fled to Papua New Guinea the day after the Supreme Court’s PK decision was made.
