The Ministry of Health has announced the activation of the initiative to enhance addiction treatment services in psychiatric clinics by appointing 50 hospitals as psychiatric clinics.
The Ministry organized an introductory workshop to the initiative, linking the clinics on the Mawwad platform and the Seha Virtual Hospital, in order to provide clinical advice to doctors through specialized addiction treatment clinics.
The number of beneficiaries of mental health hospitals and healthy convalescents has reached 4,145 healers, from January to June 2022 AD, while the number of hospitalized in the treatment centers has reached 5,670 patients, and the number of treatment seekers (who have visited the emergency room and clinics) more than 22,000 patients.
He explained that the idea of the initiative was born to familiarize doctors with the mechanism of managing addiction cases within the health model, addressing the addictive disease and accompanying psychological symptoms, as well as introducing the role of the family in the promotion of the treatment and rehabilitation process and the importance of integrating patients into addiction rehabilitation services to reduce relapse rates.
The Ministry of Health indicated that the initiative aims to facilitate access to services for patients with addiction, reduce stigma among patients with addiction, improve the health care model and increase the quality of health services for patients with dependence.
