News 24 | Newcastle crowned the Diriyah Cup by beating Al-Hilal by five (video and photos)

England side Newcastle United were crowned the title of Diriyah Season Cup today, Thursday 8th December 2022 AD, after defeating Al Hilal team with clear five goals, in the match which was held at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Malaz, as part of the activities of the Diriyah Season 2022 AD, in a match that saw a large audience of fans of the two teams.

Meeting events

Newcastle nearly scored the opener in the 6th minute, after a cross from the left, which the Newcastle player turned over with his foot, but the faulty goalkeeper dealt with it brilliantly.

The player, Guilinton, scored the first goal for Newcastle in the 7th minute, taking advantage of a cross from the right, which headed into Al-Maouf’s net.

Ighalo hit a powerful shot from outside the box in the 11th minute, but his ball went over the bar.

Ighalo missed a chance in the 24th minute, after a cross in the penalty area, to make him tackle the goalkeeper, but he hit it weakly to miss the chance to equalise.

The player, Guilinton, came back to score Newcastle’s second goal in the 43rd minute, after a pass past the back of the defence, to spot the faulty goalkeeper and easily set him in the net.

In the 49th minute a shot from Newcastle Almiron, but the ball hit the crossbar.

Almiron scored Newcastle’s third goal in the 75th minute, after a pass past the back of the defence, which left him alone with the faulty goalkeeper and he struck the ball easily with his left foot.

Al-Miron came back 5 minutes after his first goal to score the second and fourth goals for his team in the 80th minute, with a wonderful shot amid defensive carelessness of Al-Hilal players.

In the 85th minute, Stephenson scored Newcastle’s fifth goal, after a cross, which he converted easily into Maouf’s goal.

The meeting was attended by a number of official and guest figures including; His Excellency Yasser Al-Rumayyan, Governor of Saudi Public Investment Fund, His Excellency Mr. Abdul-Ilah Al-Dallak, Assistant Minister of Sports, Ms. Mai Al-Hilabi, Leader of Diriyah Season, Fahd Bin Nafel, Chairman by the board of Al-Hilal Club, Amanda Staveley, CEO of Newcastle United.

Newcastle United, owned by the Public Investment Fund, are expected to visit Riyadh city landmarks during this period, as the team hold a training camp which runs until 10 December, to coincide with the suspension of the English Premier League, in the light of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, as part of the preparation for the resumption of competitions.
