News 24 | Health: 169 death sentences following medical errors

Sharia health authorities issued decisions in 517 deaths resulting from medical errors during 2021, including 169 cases in which sentencing decisions were issued, compared to 348 cases in which non-conviction decisions were issued.

Makkah Al-Mukarramah region tops the list of decisions with 98 decisions (37 convictions, 61 no convictions), and the Eastern region came second with 75 decisions (27 convictions, 48 ​​no convictions), followed by Riyadh region with 61 sentences (21 convictions, 40 no convictions).

Asir region recorded 49 decisions (9 convictions, 40 no convictions), then Qassim 41 decisions (13 convictions, 28 no convictions), Medina 38 decisions (5 convictions, 33 no convictions), and Al-Baha finished as the region minimum number of cases of medical malpractice of 15 cases (2 convictions, 13 no convictions).
