“Newcastle United Thrash Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 in Premier League Clash”

Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle United won 5-0 in the first half when they hosted Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this season. The Magpies mercilessly punished the Spurs defense which was so porous.

Playing at St James’ Park, Sunday (23/4/2023), Newcastle took the lead quickly in the 2nd minute. Joelinton’s shot was parried by Hugo Lloris, but Jacob Murphy grabbed a loose ball and converted the chance into a goal. The hosts lead 1-0.

Tottenham had not had time to catch their breath when they conceded again in the 6th minute. Fabian Schar cleverly sent a breakthrough bait which Joelinton received. He outwitted Lloris in a one-on-one duel and then struck the ball into an empty net.

The visitors were getting immersed in the 9th minute. Eric Dier intended to cross Son Heung-min, but the ball was dispossessed by Schar and then controlled by Murphy. With a shot from a distance of about 27 meters, he successfully broke through Lloris’ goal, changing the score to 3-0.

Newcastle’s goal feast did not stop there. In the 19th minute, it was Alexander Isak’s turn to score against Tottenham. On the counter-attack, Joseph Willock sent a long ball for the Swedish striker who then dribbled and beat Lloris with a low shot into the left corner.

Newcastle fans had not finished celebrating the fourth goal when Isak scored another goal against Tottenham in the 21st minute. He completed Sean Longstaff’s pass from the right by shooting the ball back into the right corner of Lloris’ goal.
