Newcastle midfielder Longstaff hopes to see Benítez again at Everton – Rayototal

Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff is “excited” to meet Rafa Benitez at Everton.

Longstaff’s contract will expire at the end of the season and it looks like he will be leaving his youth club.

The 24-year-old made his Premier League debut with Benitez – a 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Boxing Day 2018.

And the midfielder is eager to get in touch with the Spanish manager at Goodison Park, according to the Daily star.

They claim Longstaff is eager to compete in January to propel the Toffees into the second half of this season.

Despite the player’s stance, Newcastle won’t have to cash in on his sale this month and would likely be willing to wait until the summer to lose him in a free transfer.

Longstaff’s situation has been made even more precarious by Magpies’ reported interest in Everton left-back Lucas Digne.

air sportsReporter Keith Downie claimed Wednesday that Everton “wanted” Longstaff and “made an offer”, while revealing that Newcastle has had “discussions” about Digne.

The Toon midfielder could be involved in a deal to bring Digne to St James’ Park, despite Fabrizio Romano claiming the Frenchman will “no way” move to the Northeast team.

Digne has also been linked to Chelsea and West Ham, which would be more desirable than Newcastle.

On the other hand, Watford has confirmed the signing of Brazilian central defender Samir van Udinese.

The 27-year-old has signed a contract until June 2025 and follows Hassane Kamara’s arrival from Nice.

A club statement read: “Watford FC is pleased to announce the signing of Brazilian central defender Samir from Udinese until June 2025.”

The 27-year-old is the Hornets’ second arrival in the window and brings a wealth of experience to Vicarage Road with nearly 150 top flight appearances for Italy.
