Neways rises sharply in takeover battle on green Damrak | Financial

The main index gains 0.3% to 734.6 points. AEX is Thursday 1.1% higher closed at 732.70. Today, the record close of 734.89 points may come into view this afternoon. The Midkap takes 0.4% at 1046.9 points.

The latest Gfk figure shows a further recovery in German consumer sentiment, compared on a monthly basis. “Consumer confidence has greatly improved,” concludes OHV Asset Management.

In Asia, the Nikkei closed 0.7% in the plus. The Hangseng index gains 1.4%, Shanghai is up 1.3%. Chairman Osamu Nagayama of Toshiba resigns under pressure from shareholders. A report prepared by shareholder attorneys found that Toshiba’s management worked closely with the Ministry of Economy to prevent foreign shareholders from exercising their rights with Toshiba.

New York to win

Rising inflation in Europe and North America is temporary, but will last longer than previously thought, Brzeski said. “A slew of one-off factors are driving inflation, which is likely to continue into next year.”

According to broker CMC, large investors are now convinced of the words of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell that inflation remains under control.

The yield of the 10-year US Treasury bond rose to 1.50%, the yield for the German bund and British counterpart fell to -0.186% and -0.0381 respectively. The Dutch government debt will disappear at -0.059%.

Investors are trading today with a 0.2% higher euro at $1,19418. Bitcoin gains 4% to $34,461.

Neways in sight

Steel producer ArcelorMittal wins 2.4% and leads the AEX. Tech Investment Fund Prosus follows with a 0.7% price increase.

Shell keeps 0.5% profit. Semiconductor ASMI plus 0.7%.

Payment processor Adyen lose 0.8%, brewer Heineken falls 0.9% behind.

Among the medium-sized funds, Galapagos leads the way with 1.9%.

Air France KLM wins 1.2%. The airline was able to raise €800 million with new bonds. The aviation combination wants to use the proceeds of the bonds to repay part of the state aid provided by the Netherlands and France last year. Initially, the French-Dutch group aimed for a yield of €600 million, investors would have subscribed for €2.2 billion.

PostNL is at the bottom of the Midkap at 1.2% loss.

Around the Brabant electronics company Neways (+3.2%) has started a bidding war. Management led by CEO Eric Stodel has found a ‘white knight’ in the Twente investor Bernard ten Doeschot, who is offering €14.55 per share. While there is a hostile bid of €13 from VDL.

Ten Doeschot’s investment company Infestos wants to buy 60% of the shares and to maintain the stock exchange listing of Neways.

At the small caps delivers CM.com 5% exchange rate. In its sector, fintech company Tink was bought by credit card company Visa for €1.8 billion. ABN Amro (+1%) was one of the first investors in Tink.
