A strong explosion in a sewer this Sunday generated moments of panic in Times Square, in the heart of Manhattan, in New York.

According to reports on social networks, the explosion was recorded at approximately 6:45 pm In several videos, passers-by are seen running down Seventh Avenue.

Local authorities reported that there were no injuries and that the fires were put out at 8:55 p.m.
“The emergency services blocked and evacuated people on W. 43 St. and from W. 46 St. to W. 42 St. As a precautionary measure,” said the New York Daily News, citing official sources.
Some of the streets near the accident were closed by firefighters and city authorities.

Why would the explosion have occurred?
According to the American chain CBSthe company Con Edison, in charge of electricity supply in New York, a cable fault caused an explosion and a fire in a sewer in the Times Square area.
