New York Storms Threatens Yankees Playoff Game – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – With cloudiness and the possibility of thunderstorms, Thursday’s weather could put a stop to the next playoff game of the Yankees, which will host Cleveland at home.

The morning rush hour commute was dry, but in the early afternoon showers and thunderstorms begin to spread from eastern Pennsylvania and the Delaware Valley area. Periods of heavy rain will hit the city as the afternoon approaches and some thunderstorms are likely. Flash floods and strong winds appear to be the main threats.

Tornado warnings are possible due to the strength of this front which would collide with our dry climate and temperatures of 71 degrees F, the Weather Authority noted.

The Yankees are expected to host the Cleveland Guardians in the Bronx on Thursday at 7:37 pm ET, but bad weather could disrupt their schedule.

We are evaluating the possibility of thunderstorms during the first pitch and, although the risk decreases as the night progresses, it should remain humid throughout the seventh inning and for fans returning home after the game.

The playoff team, led by Aaron Judge, leads the Guardians in the 1-0 series.

The sky is expected to clear up by midnight and the sun will return on Friday amid temperatures around the 60s to get the weekend off to a good start.

Perfect weather also seems to be expected for Saturday, before the next chance of rain arrives on Sunday.
