New York shares close: Dow with record – 30,000 points still unmatched

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The hope for another promising corona vaccine brought the Dow Jones Industrial another record on Monday. The best-known US stock index climbed to 29,964 points in late trading, leaving its previous record, which was only a week old, behind. However, investors have to wait for the jump over the much-noticed 30,000-point mark – at the close of the market there was an increase of 1.60 percent to 29,950.44 points.

The market-wide S&P 500 ultimately gained 1.16 percent to 3626.91 points. The technology-heavy selection index Nasdaq 100 achieved a price increase of 0.63 percent to 12 013.39 points. / Gl
