The Russian’s decision is a consequence of allegations made by a former coach of the Russian super striker. Andrei Nazarov, who is currently the head coach of the KHL club Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, has criticized Panarin several times in the past for his attitude towards President Vladimir Putin.
But now this saga has reached a new level. Panarin is said to have beaten an 18-year-old girl at the age of 19. The incident is said to have occurred in the Latvian capital Riga, as NY Posts Larry Brooks reported today.
The New York Rangers made the following statement in a first statement: “Artemi vehemently and unequivocally denies the allegations. This is clearly an intimidation tactic for speaking out on political events. “
