New York’s mayor-elect is ready to get down to business – and smoke, apparently – because he came to The Late Show with freebies… including the herbal variety.
Eric Adams just won his election day victory and will replace Bill de Blasio in January, and he stopped Stephane ColbertTuesday’s late night talk show with a tote bag full of trinkets he handed out one by one.
First, he presented a cuddly blanket for SC and her boyfriend, then a GSD NYC T-shirt… but the third gift is the most attention-grabbing one. The mayor-elect took out some rolling papers and what appeared to be a bag of marijuana – he said he would hand it to Stephen backstage.
BTW, it wasn’t real ganja – Adams’ team clarified this after the fact, claiming he didn’t bring actual weed on set, even though it’s legal in New York … And Adams, in fact, supports him.
The bamboo rolling papers were real, though… so at least Colbert got it!
Either way, there was one final giveaway that won the crowd – Adams released an Oprah with goodies for everyone to see. No, not everyone had a car, but it was something to help promote NYC.
Adams said New York is the nightlife capital of the world and he wants to get this representative back on track under his rule.
