Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler argued that given “the repeated accusations against the governor and the manner in which he has responded to them, it is no longer possible for him to continue to govern at this stage.”
New York State Democrats also pointed to strong criticism of Mr. Cuomo for hiding the number of nursing home residents who died from COVID-19 for months.
The New York State Assembly, the lower house, on Thursday authorized an impeachment inquiry against Mr. Cuomo as elected officials investigate the existence of grounds for impeachment.
