NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – Quiet trading is becoming apparent on the US stock exchanges on the last trading day of the current year. The broker IG assessed the Dow Jones Industrial just under an hour before the start of trading, down 0.10 percent to 36,387 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 
saw IG 0.05 percent higher at 16,436 points.
There was initially no market-moving news from either the corporate or the economic world. Experts expect trading to be thin, and important world exchanges such as Frankfurt, Tokyo and Zurich will remain closed on this day.
